Resumen
Antoni Muntadas, National Arts Award (Premio Nacional de las Artes) winner for
2005, presents "Urban projects 2002 -2005…towards Sevilla 2008" at the Centro de Arte de Sevilla, where
he shows how he is working on the city and public spaces, researching information channels and how they
are used to censor or promote ideas. During a conversation with Valentín Roma and Marta Pelegrín, he
describes how his proposals are developed in different contexts. Through these proposals he invites
different audiences to ask themselves about the transformations that given cultural events, urbanistic
decisions or spectacular proposals have generated in each city and its inhabitants. An intense analysis,
documentation and work process with different agents and interlocutors generates the presentation of
"Urban projects 2002-2005" which, while indicating the conflict without increasing the level of
conflictivity, show their attitude of always questioning -in a measured and propositional manner- cities
such as Sao Paulo, Barcelona, Lille, Graz, Bremen, San Juan de Puerto Rico and Venice. Muntadas is
currently working on a project he calls "...hacia Sevilla 2008", where he ponders the cultural
spectacularisation processes, and stresses the configuration of urban space (its architecture,
communication systems and representation) in Andalusian capital.
